Description
Powelliphanta hochstetteri anatokiensis. A Hochstetter Land Snail browns in colour with a striped pattern. Interior has a piece of paper inserted that reads "ANATOKIENSIS / PARAPARA PEAK, GOLDEN / BAY, NELSON, 2,700 FT. / OCT. '70. B.F.E." handwritten in pencil. Numerous cracks appear on and near the end of the shell. Situated in a cardboard box with a white label with black printed text that reads "P. hochstetteri anatokiensis (Powell, 1938)" Another piece of paper in the same manner reads "Anatoki Forks, W. Nelson, 2000ft". A96.878 is also contained in this box.

This species is found in the North Western of South Island at the head waters of Anatoki. It is a large carnivorous snail and eats earthworms, insects and other snail. Not much information is known about this species.
