A Hochstetter Land Snail egg contained in a glass tube with white plastic screw top lid. Egg is white in colour and has a white label inside with printed black text that reads "Egg of P.hochstetteri / hochstetteri". Situated in a cardboard box with a white label with black printed text that reads "P. hochstetteri hochstetteri (Pfeiffer, 1862) / In bush halfway down road to Canaan". A96.872-A96.876 are also contained in this box.

This species is found in the North Western of South Island. It is a large carnivorous snail and eats earthworms, insects and other snail. Not much information is known about this species.
