Description
Powelliphanta superba mouatae. A Superb Land Snail, dull brown in colour with numerous cracks over the surface. Interior has a piece of aged tissue inserted inside. Situated in a small cardboard box with a white label with black printed text that reads "P. superba mouatae (Powell, 1936) / Between 7 & 8 mile pegs, Gouland Downs". A96.866 is also contained in this box.

This subspecies is found from the Gouland Downs area in west Nelson, South Island. It is a large carnivorous land snail. It eats earthworms, insects and other snails. It is nationally endangered being susceptible to habitat loss and predation. Little is known about the species.
