Powelliphanta annectens. A Oparara Land Snail, striped in brown tones. Interior is hollow. Situated in a small cardboard box with a white label with black printed text that reads "Paryphanta annectens (Powell, 1936) / Oparara, W. Coast". A96.858 is also contained in this box.

This species is found in the Northern westland area from Karamea to Gunner Downs in the South Island. It is a large carnivorous species eating earthworms, insects and other snails. Little is known about this species as well as all species of Powelliphanta. They are an ancient group of animals which possibly diversified during the Miocene period 5-20mya.
