Powelliphanta lignaria johnstoni. A Woodformed Land Snail, striped in brown tones. Interior is hollow. End of shell has some damage with a chipped egde. Situated in a small cardboard box with a white label with black printed text that reads "P. lignaria johnstoni (Powell, 1946) / Charming Creek, Ngakawau". A96.852-856 are also contained in this box.

This subspecies is from the Northern westland area, South Island. It has been recorded at Charming creek in the Mokihinui river area. It is a large carnivorous species which eats earthworms, insects and other snails. It is nationally vulnerable being highly susceptible to habitat destruction and predation from introduced pest. Little is known about this species.
