Description
A beetle, black, pale brown and grey in colour. Mounted on a white piece of card and contained within a deep black wooden frame, interior sides coloured gold. White adhered label with black printed text reads "Megasoma elephas / Muzo, 11.5cm. / Columbia.". Small white adhered label with red gender symbol is situated above this. Printed red circle and arrow. Triangular metal hook at centre top allows for hanging. Rear of frame has a brown paper tape border sealing pale green card.

This beetle is found in central and south America. They are nocturnal and are often attracted to artifical lights. Only males have the large impressive horns which are used in combat with rival males.
