Credit line
They are flightless that have a famous feisty and curious nature. There curiosity made them easy prey as they did not shy away from strangers. The North Island sub-species is now only found on the mainland in hills between Matawai and Opotiki. There have been small populations established around the North Island and offshore Islands.
