McCutcheon
after
he
rescued
12-year-old
Denise
MacKie
on
22
May
1959.
Gale
force
winds
had
downed
power
lines
at
the
entrance
to
Kawaroa
Park
and
Denise
was
entangled
in
the
live
wires.
Eddie
heard
her
screaming
and
after
making
sure
emergency
services
were
called
he
kicked
the
wires
out
of
the
way,
pulled
Denise
free
using
an
oilskin
coat
to
protect
his
hands
and
performed
CPR.
Mr
McCutcheon
later
collapsed
and
was
hospitalised
as
well.
