Shirt, Boy Scouts

Description
A woollen Boy Scouts uniform shirt. It is a khaki green colour with short sleeves and a three button " V " front opening. The buttons are a khaki green plastic and there are two upper front pockets. There are a number of badges sewn on to the garment. " MATAPU GROUP " is written on a badge on one shoulder. There are short lengths of red, black and yellow woollen ' ribbon ' attached to the left shoulder. " MADE BY Kaiapoi ESPECIALLY FOR / THE SCOUT SHOP / EQUIPMENT BRANCH / MADE IN NEW ZEALAND " is written in red and green text on a manufacturing label. Label also has " Ivan Willis / MATAPU " handwritten in black ink on it.

It is thought this shirt originally belonged to Ivan Willis of the Matapu Scout Group. It was then part of the Hawera Repertory Society costume hire collection and was also used for plays.

I did wonder where My scout shirt was now? The silver start with the #4 in the middle denotes that i was a patrol leader for 4 years . Below that . I was a first class scout. Next i was qualified at erecting tents and at swimming and the red black and yellow shoulder flashes identified my troop ( cant recall the troop name )
