Nest, Grey Warbler

Description
Grey Warbler (Gerygone igata) nest. Nest is elongated and tapered with extra material trailing from the base forming a kind of 'beard'. Small opening near top gives access to a deep cup. Made from a variety of mediums including lichen, hair, rootlets, plant fibre, moss and traces of wool. Paper note inside cup bears handwritten text in ink which reads as follows: "From "Ferngrove" Urenui Sept 1928. eggs in / collection". [Note: Ferngrove was the Halcombe family farm]. Slightly misshapen.
