Nest, Chaffinch

Description
Chaffinch (Fringilla coelebs gengleri) nest. Round, compact structure of moss, small twigs, fibres, rootlets and cobwebs. Outside decorated with lichen and the deep cup is lined with hair and feathers. Small paper note inside cup reads as follows (text handwritten in faded ink): "Chaffinch. Eggs in collection / Wha?corino / King Country. Oct 1933". Note has several insect holes in it.
