Description
Thin-billed Prion (Pachyptila belcheri). Smallish sea bird. Upper parts are a bluey grey. Conspicuous white lores and white stripe above the eye. Black open-M marking across upper wings and small black tail tip. Underparts white. Bill of medium length, very narrow. Thin legs with webbed feet. Small black tail tip. Unmounted. Has wings spread wide. Thin wire poking out from wings and feet. Paper label attached to one foot reads as follows: "University of Canterbury, Zoology department CHRISTCHURCH, NEW ZEALAND. Pachyptila belcheri JMC132 col: No2 Playing Field Fitzroy New Plymouth 2.8.86 Several dozen lice. Trematode anklets with legs 3.8.86. prep J.M. CLARK". In fair condition.
