Description
A 78 rpm record featuring the New Plymouth Primary Schools Choir and the New Plymouth Central School Choir performing songs records for the royal visit of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953. It features the tracks " Welcome Queen Elizabeth II (Performed by the N.P. Primary Schools Choir) ", " The Beekeeper's Song (N.P. Central School Choir) " and " Lovely Egmont (N.P. Central School Choir) "
The label on the record itself is pale green and silver. Two fern leaves are pictured in silver along with a tui. " Welcome Queen Elizabeth II " and " The Beekeeper's Song " are on one side and " Lovely Egmont " is on the other. " 21857 " is scratched on the record near the label on the "Lovely Egmont" side." You will always find the / brightest recorded hits of today / and tomorrow on these / gramaphone discs/ TANZA / TASMAN RODEO / For Perfect Reproduction / / A COLUMBUS RADIO-GRAMOPHONE COMBINATION / COLUMBUS RADIO CENTRES / throughout New Zealand " is written on the brown paper cover which also features two pictures of yachts.

In the summer of 1953/1954, Queen Elizabeth and her husband Prince Philip toured New Zealand. Nettie and Roy’s song ‘Welcome Queen Elizabeth II’ was chosen by the New Plymouth Royal Visit Committee to be sung at the civic reception for the Queen at Pukekura Park. The song was sung by the New Plymouth Primary School's Representative choir of 160 children.
