Immature Rook (Corvus frugilegus frugilegus). Large black bird (larger and heavier than a magpie). Feathers have a purple gloss. Mounted on a piece of white foam core - in a standing position with both wings closed and looking forward.

Rooks were introduced by acclimatisation soieties in 1862-74. They are the only members of the crow family to be found in NZ now. They are part of eradication programs by several councils. They damage pasters and crops.
