Fossil, Ammonite
Description
Ammonite fossil. Brownish shell coiled into a spiral. Polished on one side to reveal the internal segments of the shell's skeleton and 'raw' on the other. Evenly spaced ridges on the external shell. A fairly good example. Probably of British origin. Lower Jurasic period (172m year). In fair condition - large chip on outside edge of 'raw' side reveals crystalised structures inside the segmented compartments.
