Description
Section of an ammonite embedded in sediment and polished. Sediment has been squared and flattened at the base. Only one side of the ammonite is visible as the other is hidden by the concretion. The internal skeleton of the shell is visible. Shell is coiled into a spiral and segmented into evenly divided chambers. Provenanced to England. In fairly good condition - "U" shaped chip upper rear edge. Probably from the Lower Jurassic Period 172m year.
