Description
A single Cocos zeylandica (fossil coconut). Small, dark brown, flattened, walnut-sized fossil coconut. Three 'eyes' at one end - all are squashed out of shape. 3cm long crack on one side (crack actually zig-zags in the middle). Small depression and associated crack in the middle of the other side. Covered in a sticky substance. Came from Coopers Beach. Dated Early Miocene (24-16 million years)
