A set of two fibreboard identity discs issued to Flight Lieutenant Richard W. (Dickie) Baunton. The discs are hung on a chain with a 1919 halfpenny in between them. " R W BAUNTON PRES 436822 R.N.Z.A.F " is marked on one side of one disc. " BLOOD GROUP AB " is marked on the other side. The other disc has " R W BAUNTON PRES 436822 R.N.Z.A.F " marked on one side. " DO NOT REMOVE " is marked on the other.

These identity discs were issued to Flight Lieutenant Richard W. (Dickie) Baunton. Baunton was born in New Plymouth and attended Central School and New Plymouth Boys' High School. He was studying for a Bachelor of Arts (History) when he enlisted, first in the army and then in the Royal New Zealand Air Force where he trained as a navigator. After the war he completed his degree before taking up a teaching position at New Plymouth Boys' High School, where he taught for many years.
