H Goodacre is most likely to be Hal Goodacre, who arrived in New Plymouth in 1882 from Derbyshire, England, with his family. Hal Goodacre was active in local community affairs. He established the Egmont Boot and Shoe Company, was chairman of the '1904/5 Exhibition Committee and a supporter of the development of Pukekura Park. He died in the 1917 flu epidemic. He is buried in the Te Henui Cemetery.
