Description
A blue serge Reserve Navy cap. The garment has a tan-coloured leather sweatband inside and a 2.3cm-wide blue chin strap. There is a 2.3cm-wide blue trim around brim and stamped on the leather sweatband reads: "Sanders & Brightman / Luton 1943". The number "7" is also printed within a circle on leather headband.

Thanks for that Barry, it is interesting to hear your opinion. The cap was donated along with other items of uniform belonging to Alan "Hardy" Good but I guess it is possible that a stray piece of female kit got mixed in there though just how that may have happened remains a mystery. These things are seldom simple are they?

The sailor cap looks very much like a womens cap, (WRNS). The main difference is the soft unstiffened crown of the female cap. The cap pictured seams to be a second type, issued from Mid 1942. The male cap had a stiff and ridged crown. Barry
