A thick, twisted stump of wood taken from an unusually large boxthorn plant.
This wood was collected from an unusually large boxthorn bush. Very few bushes this size still left as most have been pulled out. It was collected by Rex Binns from Opaku Lodge Farm, Otauto Road, Whenuakura. Mr Binns uses timber like this for wood turning. This particular piece was collected specifically for the exhibition, Boxthorn: It Has No Equal, held at Taranaki Museum from June - September 2000.
