Description
Mark 1 Rotary bale loader designed by Charles Maxwell of Okato and manufactured by Swanson Engineering, New Plymouth. It has wide arms that sit on small wheels low to the ground that narrow and direct bales toward the rotary arms. The arms pick up the bails and deposit them on the top tray. There is a spiked wheel that thrusts the bails across the tray and into the truck towing the loader. The rotary arms are propelled by a chain drive that is connected to one of the two main wheels. Another chain drive is connected to the other side of the rotary arm axle and this moves the spiked wheel. The loader is painted green and yellow. The path of the bails (the arms, rotary arms and top trays) has been painted yellow and the main body is green.
