Small steel engraving depicting view of New Plymouth from the sea c.1860. Shows small township nestled in amongst hills upon top of which are a series of English fort-like blockhouses including Mt Eliot and Marsland Hill (Marsland Hill barracks also visible). Mt Taranaki/Egmont and ranges in background. Three rowing boats in foreground. Below image is: "New Plymouth, New Zealand". Image is somewhat 'idealised' with considerable artistic licence having been executed. Has obviously come from a publication of some sort. In good condition. c.1860s.
