Object Detail


Decorated waka huia made from wood. Lid decoration divided at centre by thin band of notching. Each half of lid decorated with a large spiral, one with three grooves to the spiral the other with a single groove. Spirals sporadically notched.
Base: head at each end looking directly up-wards. Narrow elliptic eyes only, one with paua inserts and incised moko. Whole base similar to lid two large spirals separate at middle by single band of notching.
