Upright spinning wheel bought from Shetland by Elizabeth (Sinclair) Smith (1953-1938) on the Zealandia 1879 into Wellington. She worked for Moores at Bushy Park Kai-iwi till marrying fellow Shetlander Robert Smith 1882 and moving to Manaia. 1885 they moved to their Palmer Road farm where they reared George b1882, Bill b.1884 and Isa b.1887. Dorothy (Hutchinson) Waldegrave placed the wheel in the museum 1959 under grandson Jack Smith's name who still farms at Palmer Road 2019.
