View of Grant and Fogwill's camp, which was close to where Fox's party set up camp before their ascent of Mount Taranaki in February 1890. Ten figures are depicted, including a woman holding a parisol. Three tents are strung up between trees. Fires are burning in the foreground. Mount Taranaki dominates the background. The sky has a pink hue, suggesting sunset. Part of a series of works by Edith Halcombe documenting Sir William Fox's climb up Mt Taranaki in February 1890. Members of the party included: Premier Sir William Fox; Mayor of New Plymouth Arthur Standish; Edith Halcombe; Miss Standish; Miss Saddler; Guide Harry Peters and Robert Clinton Hughes.
