Sir William Fox (seated) and guide Harry Peters (standing) on the upper slopes of Mt Taranaki overlooking North Taranaki to the coast at New Plymouth. Stony River can be seen in the middleground and the Sugar Loaves are visible in the background. Part of a series of works by Edith Halcombe documenting Sir William Fox's climb up Mt Taranaki/Egmont in February 1890. Members of the party included: Premier Sir William Fox; Mayor of New Plymouth Arthur Standish; Edith Halcombe; Miss Standish; Miss Saddler; Guide Harry Peters and Robert Clinton Hughes.
