View of Sir William Fox's camp, situated at the site of the current North Egmont Visitor Centre. Nine figures are depicted, including Edith Halcombe with sketch pad and pencil in the foreground on the right of the painting and Fox seated near the tent on the left of the image. Two tents are strung between the trees. Detail in foreground includes a bedroll, a billy and fire, and tea cups. Tall trees and bush surround the campsite. Part of a series of works by Edith Halcombe documenting Sir William Fox's climb up Mt Taranaki/Egmont in February 1890. Members of the party included: Premier Sir William Fox; Mayor of New Plymouth Arthur Standish; Edith Halcombe; Miss Standish, Miss Saddler; Guide Harry Peters and Robert Clinton Hughes.
