Description
A Distinguished Conduct medal which is attached to crimson and blue ribbon with scroll clasp. The obverse features a bust profile of King George V, "GEORGIUS V BRITT: OMN: REX ET IND: IMP:" is marked near the edge of the obverse. " FOR DISTINGUISHED CONDUCT IN THE FIELD " is marked on the reverse. "12-1020 Cpl F.W. WATSON. AUCKLAND BN: N.Z.F. " is inscribed on the edge of the medal. The medal is mounted as part of a set of four.

This Distinguished Conduct Medal was awarded to 2nd Lieutenant Frederick Watson for conspicuous gallantry on the 7 August 1915 at Chunuk Bair, Gallipoli. Watson was killed in action at Messines, France on 7 July 1917. He was the great-grandson of Josiah and Ann Flight, who arrived in New Plymouth on the Timandra in 1842.
