Description
A 1914-15 Star. The bronze crowned four pointed star also features crossed swords and a wreath of oak leaves with the royal cypher at the foot. " 1914-15 " is embossed on a central scroll. Inscribed ""12/1020 2/LT. F.W. WATSON N.Z.E.F." The star is attached to a watered red, white and blue striped ribbon by a simple ring and is mounted as part of a medal group of four.

This 1914-15 star was awarded to 2nd Lieutenant Frederick William Watson who was killed in action at Messines, France on 7 July 1917. He was the great-grandson of Josiah and Ann Flight, who arrived in New Plymouth on the Timandra in 1842.
