Description
Small watercolour depicting a sailing ship lying off shore (left middle ground) and a surf boat at the shoreline (right middle/foreground). Handwritten inscription on rear reads:- "At New Plymouth, NZ, before the breakwater was made ships used to lie off shore and be loaded and unloaded by surfboats. F de J Clere happened to be there when this was being done for the last time and made this sketch."
