Small farm cottage with cleared land in foreground and bush in background. Cottage situated left middleground with path extending from left foreground to right of cottage. Single figure walking on path, two figures in front of cottage and two cattle in right middleground. Mt Taranaki/Egmont is visible right background.
John Tylston Wicksteed, his wife Emma and sons John and Arthur came to New Plymouth in May 1842 and purchased land in Vogeltown and Omata before moving to Whanganui in 1853.
A version of the print was used as an illustration in Charles Hursthouse Jnr's book book 'An Account of the Settlement f New Plymouth', published by Smith Elder & Co., Cornhill in 1849, opposite p 151.
