Description
A small 9 carat gold cup mounted on a contoured wooden base. The cup has three handles in the shape of an ornate inverted number "7". An inscription on the cup reads: "Presented to/ MR & MRS C.H. BURGESS/ On the occasion of their Golden Wedding/ 15th November 1931./ AS A TOKEN OF ESTEEM BY THE/ CITIZENS OF NEW PLYMOUTH." Makers marks and the name "A. Kohn" are impressed immediately above inscription. Two circular metal pieces inserted into the top and underside of the wooden base read: "A. Kohn Jeweller / By Appointment / 178 Queen Street / Auckland." The cup is contained in a lined black cardboard box with "A. Kohn Jeweller / By Appointment / 178 Queen Street / Auckland. N.Z" stamped on the lid.
