Description
Kaupapa worked in Whatu-aho-rua( two pair twining) in horizontal rows. Nine whenu to 1cm. Ara spaced at 8mm intervals. A deep hem of Taniko has been worked in natural and dyed muka with red and blue wool. Stitches in the Taniko are 11cm to 1cm. The side borders are worked in muka Taniko. The neck and sides are trimmed with twined muka while the hem panel of Taniko is trimmed with twined wool. Taniko patterns include Niho Taniwha, Patikitiki and haehae.
