Credit line
Among any museum collection there are usually several items that fall into the unusual or downright bizarre category. One such item in the Puke Ariki collection is this ‘bedside’ lamp. Presumably a hunter’s trophy head, it has been mounted on a toilet seat and a light fitting has been installed in its open mouth. It is designed to be mounted on a wall but its effectiveness as a lamp is open to question. Unfortunately the history of this item is unknown.
