Among
any
museum

there
are
usually
several
items
that
fall
into
the
unusual
or
downright
bizarre
category.
One
such
item
in
the
Puke
Ariki
collection
is
this
‘bedside’
lamp.
Presumably
a
hunter’s
trophy
head,
it
has
been
mounted
on
a
toilet
seat
and
a
light
fitting
has
been
installed
in
its
open
mouth.
It
is
designed
to
be
mounted
on
a
wall
but
its
effectiveness
as
a
lamp
is
open
to
question.
Unfortunately
the
history
of
this
item
is
unknown.
