Unidentified elderly woman
Description
Ambrotype portrait of an unidentified elderly woman. The ambrotype is contained in an embossed leather case with embossed rust-coloured velvet lining in the case lid. The edge of the case interior is painted with gold designs. The image is framed with an embossed copper-coloured metal matt with embossed metal edging. Two clasps (one of which has broken off) are mounted on the right hand side of the case. There is no protective glass over the emulsion surface.
