Description
A curved silver gilt snuff box with two compartments accessed by opposing hinged lids. The exterior lid features the Wilson family crest The crest features a talbot's head surmounted by the motto " SEMPER VIGILANS ". The exterior is decorated with engraved crescent shapes. "Presented / to / Mr Peter Wilson / SURGEON /by the / Officers/ of / H.M.S MOSELLE / Jamaica / Jany 7th / 1814 " is marked on the underside of the lid. Each component bears individual maker's marks. " SP " in an oval.
