Paepae

Description
Consists of five figures, a central female figure flanked by a female figure on the right side with another female figure facing out on the end. The two figures on the left side of the central figure have the lower parts of their bodies missing and their sex is undeterminable. Decoration between the figures consists of crescent designs arranged in a seemingly random manner. Two bands of decoration, one at the top of the paepae and the other at the base are present. Double spirals and puwerewere are used on these. The figures each side of the central figure have one arm under the leg with the other to the mouth. On the complete end figure one arm passes under the leg while the other passes under the jaw and emerges to one side. The hands of the central figure rest on the knees while the legs are drawn underneath. One foot on the two right end figures consists of a square block while the other foot has the more usual three toes. A lashing bar is present at the back of the paepae along the base with a lashing hole in each end and a square section has been taken out of it behind the central figure.
