Epa

Description
Consists of a female figure in frontal position with another half figure underneath. One arm on the top figure passes through the lower jaw with hand resting near the shoulder. The other arm is at the side with the hand on the side of the body. One leg appears to pass through an eyebrow of the lower figure while the lower leg, which is difficult to define, appears to be drawn under the body. One arm on the lower figure passes through its eyebrow while the other arm is at its side with the hand resting on the body. This epa is unfinished along the top and base. There are four lashing holes along the left and six holes along the right side. The carving detail on this epa is very complicated with extensive use of puwerewere, and double spirals with blocks. Epa would fit on the right side of a pataka. Carving is shallow.
