Epa

Description
Consists of a single female figure in a frontal position. Is badly eroded making interpretation of the detail difficult in places. The left hand is touching the side of the head while the right hand is to the figures side. A piece is missing off the epa on the lower right corner. This piece would have carried the right leg and the remaining section of the right arm. The epa appears to have been trimmed along the base as only the upper half of the left leg is present. Puwerewere is present above the left eye. Three lashing holes are present along the left side and two are present on the remaining right side. Rectangular hole 100 x 80 mm is present below the head and above the neck. This presumably was something to do with the construction of the pataka. The epa would have fitted on the left side of the pataka. Carving is shallow.
