Description
An Always Did 'Spise a Mule cast iron mechanical bank. The bank features a mule which is designed to spin and kick a seated black jockey. When he is ' kicked ' the jockey tips back and deposits a coin, which had earlier been placed in the slot below where he is seated, into the container in the base. " ALWAYS DID 'SPISE A MULE " is marked in raised letters on the top of the base, which is painted green. The sides of the base are painted yellow. " PATD APR 22 / 1879 / PEND'G " is marked on the underside of the base " FEB 2 1875 PATD " is marked on the cap where the money can be accessed.
