Ambrotype of a view of New Plymouth, framed by a shaped metal matt with metal edging embossed with leaf designs. View shows Marsland Hill Barracks in the top right of the image and St Mary's Church at the base of the hill beneath the barracks. Collection of buildings in the middleground. A fence cuts across the foreground with cattle standing behind it. The ambrotype is not contained within a case. Possibly one of the earliest photographs taken of New Plymouth.
