"Kaumarie"

Description
An unframed oil on canvas depicting a plant that stretches from the top to the bottom of the canvas. The plant is depicted as having thin green leaves. Big white flowers with purple features, smaller white and yellow flowers, and clusters of tiny white flowers flower off the main plant. The background is a mottled yellow-brown colour.

There are three plant species identified in this painting. Earina autumnalis, also known as Raupeka or "Easter Orchid", is identified, which likely refers to the smaller white flowers that are clustered along the bottom of the painting. The species Earina mucronata, also known as Peka a waka or "Bamboo Orchid" is identified in this painting, likely referring to the small white and yellow flowers. Finally, the species Dendrobium cunninghamii, also known as Winika or "Slipper Orchid", is identified, referring to the larger white flowers with the purple features.
