Description
A grey-coloured cuirass bodice trimmed with tassels along the hemline and two bands of cream and beige-coloured checked cotton. The cuffs as well are lined with a band of the checked cotton. The bodice is not boned, has a short band collar and fastens down the front with hooks and stitched eyelet holes. The centre front is decorated with metal buttons that have a checked design on them.

The garment belonged to Fanny Ross (nee Phain) who married a Scotsman, David Ross. Fanny was Irish and came to New Zealand aged 18. She lived her in Milton in the South Island and is buried there.
