Description
Mouth of the Urenui River looking towards the sea. The painting depicts a ketch in full sail, manned by two men, and another man in a dingy as well as a cottage in the background. The wooden structure visible on the south bank of the river was built by the Armed Constabulary in 1871 to improve access to the ferry across the river. A bridge replaced the ferry in 1873.
