Papers of the Inglewood Municipal Band (Inc.), which was active from the 1890s to the 1980s. Includes sheet music, correspondence, membership lists, meeting notes, rules of the band, news articles and ephemera.

Item 1
Hard cover book of loose sheet music; primarily ‘Wright and Round’s Quartetts for brass instruments’. Some sheets have been ink stamped with ‘INGLEWOOD M. BAND’.
Item 2
Duplicate book with copy pages of band meeting notes, outward correspondence, accounts and membership listings, for the period 1948-1959. [Cover detached.]
Item 3
Small exercise book (1K) labelled ‘Equipment’. Includes listing of band members and the uniform items they had, their instrument and its make, number and condition, for which they had signed.
Item 4
Set of Rules of the Municipal Band, Inc., dated 30th April 1956.
Item 5
Eleven pages of typed notes, with news entries including some relating to the band, which are highlighted. Dates range from 1923 to 1984.
Item 6
Two pages from publications – one titled ‘COUNTRY TOWNS AND DISTRICTS’ at the top of the page likely dates to around 1906; the next ‘100 years History of Inglewood’. The latter has a section titled ‘Inglewood Brass Band – 52 Years as Bandmaster’, which details the history of the band, and was published in 1975.

Five pages of photocopies of old newspaper articles relating to the band.

A marking sheet for the New Zealand Brass Bands Association contest at New Plymouth held 14th March 1953, with chart of marches and scoring records for the Stratford, Inglewood, New Plymouth and Manaia bands.

Four printed membership cards for honorary members of the Inglewood Municipal Band (Inc.), numbered 767, 768, 769 and 793. Text as follows ‘THIS IS TO CERTIFY THAT Mr. __________ IS AN Honorary Member of the Inglewood Municipal Band (Inc.) for the Year Ending 31st October, 19 / - Secretary’
