"Colonial House Study Frankley Rd New Plymouth"

Production date
Aug 1960
Description
Sketch of a Colonial house located on Frankley Road in New Plymouth. The left foreground depicts the cab of a parked truck. Two tree stumps are located in the left foreground, and one on the right. The colonial-style, weather-boarded house is located in the midground of the sketch. It has a double-pitched roof, two chimneys and a porch or verandah on the right of the house. Two tall trees are present in the background, one behind the house and one to the left of the house. The sky takes up most of the background, ink-washed to create a dark grey sky. The scene is depicted with loose, expressive marks with some sections washed with black ink. The entire image is contained within a black ink border painted using thick brushstrokes.
