Description
The diary written on note pad follows Dr Jozsef and his wife (Irma Revfy) and daughter (Judith Refvy later Wratislav) as they leave Europe to arrive in New Zealand. The transcript was created and typed by Judith. She then translated it into English so the family could read it.
In 1949 Jozsef, Irma and Judith arrived in New Zealand. A Catholic priest (Father Gerald Donoghue) who visited the refugee camp in Pahiatua arranged a job for Jozsef in New Plymouth. Presumably this job was at Teeds (local chemist) where he worked until 1962 when he lost both his legs.
