Timber jack

Description
Section of wood with a spinning double-ended handle and a metal post which slides out from the main, wooden section. It has a metal foot at the other end and a short section of chain attached, part-way up.

The timber jack is a mechanical device used to stabilise or roll heavy logs. They were very commonly used in the 18th and early 19th centuries to move felled timber when clearing land and for the logging industry.
